LISLE, Ill. - The Comcast Chicago Bandits and the Michigan Ice wrapped up their series tonight at the Sports Complex at Benedictine University. Jennie Finch took the mound for the second time this series since her time with the National team.
Finch controlled the Ice bats keeping them scoreless for the first four innings while striking out seven. Jessica Sallinger and Amy Harre came in to finish up the game keeping the hitless streak going on the night.
The Bandits wasted no time flexing their muscles against the Ice scoring three runs in the first inning off of a 240 foot Jaime Clark homerun. Clark knocked in Vicky Galindo who singled to get on and Kristie Fox who reached on a walk.
The home team carried that momentum into the second chalking two more runs up on the board. Laura Harms led off with a solid single up the middle and put herself in scoring position by stealing second. Autumn Champion took one for the team as she took a pitch to the elbow. With runners in scoring position, Lindsay Schutzler saw an opportunity to boost her stat line and rocked a two run double to left center.
Harms earned her second hit of the night with another single up the middle. She tried to steal her second base but was thrown out in the process. Champion reached on a fielding error by third baseman Elana Meyers and capitalized by stealing second. Schutzler continued with the hot bat and drilled a triple to left bringing Champion home to score.
The Bandits will play their next homestand against the Akron Racers on Sunday August 5th at 3:05 p.m.
