LISLE, Ill. - The third game between the Comcast Chicago Bandits and the Michigan Ice was highlighted by a pair of two run homers. This 5-0 win brings the Bandits’ record to 16-15 on the season.
Chicago jumped on the board with their first run of the game in the first inning. Lindsay Schutzler led off with a single up the middle and put herself in scoring position by stealing second. Gina Oaks advanced Schutzler to third on a sacrifice bunt. A single up the middle by Fox brought Schutzler across the plate.
The Bandits broke open a tight 1-0 ballgame thanks to a four run fourth inning. Stephanie Brown and Kristie Fox each slugged two run homers in the frame to put the game out of reach. It was the second homerun of the season for Brown, while it was the first round tripper on the season for Fox.
Gina Oaks (4-3) went six strong innings scattering three hits. Oaks did not walk a batter and put 12 Michigan batters on Ice via the strikeout. Peaches James pitched the seventh as the Bandits registered the combined shutout.
The series finale between these two teams takes place tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
