Long Ball Helps Glory Defeat Force, 5-2

Fairfax, VA - Oli Keohohou and Jessica Moore both blasted home runs in the fourth inning to lead the Washington Glory (24-7) to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Force (13-14) on Friday night at the George Mason Softball Complex. Washington had a well balanced offensive attack as each starter reached base safely on the night.

For the second straight night, the Force took the early lead but were unable to hold on. Emily Friedman led off the inning with a single to right field and advanced to second on a bunt single by Sharonda McDonald. Chelsea Spencer then flew out to right, which allowed Friedman to advance 60 feet away. Kellie Wilkerson then grounded out to second base, but slow enough to score Friedman from third.

Washington finally got on the board in the fourth, but in a big way as Keohohou and Moore homered. Nichole Thompson led off the inning with a single down the right field line and was followed by Keohohou's eighth home run of the season. With one out, Moore hit a towering blast to dead center field, her fourth round tripper of the season.

The Glory would add two more runs in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead. Keohohou walked to lead off the inning, and she was replaced by pinch runner Christa Dalakis. Dalakis advanced to second on Sara Larquier's single up the middle. Moore then advanced both runners in to scoring position with a sac bunt to the right side. A RBI groundout by Callie Piper allowed Dalakis to score from third, and a single up the middle by Stephanie Best scored Larquier.

Jen Musillo pitched the seventh inning for the Glory as she retired the side allowing just one run on two hits.

Desiree Serrano recorded her league leading 14th win on the season allowing one run on nine hits, while striking out five.

Stacy Birk received the loss allowing three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of work. Jodie Cox pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing two runs on two hits.

The Glory and Force will wrap up their four game series tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at the George Mason Softball Complex.
