Pauly Pitches Glory to Victory

Fairfax, VA - Sarah Pauly allowed just one hit in six innings of work to lead the Washington Glory (16-5) to an 8-1 victory over the Michigan Ice on Thursday night at the George Mason Softball Complex. Amber Jackson and Nichole Thompson both recorded three hits while Oli Keohohou and Jen Chamberlin also hit back-to-back home runs.

The Glory took the early lead in the bottom of the first and broke the game wide open in the third and fourth innings. Washington scored two runs in the first inning after back-toRBIs by Jackson and Thompson. Nicole Barber led off the game with a single and a stolen base, and was driven in by a double to left by Jackson. Jackson eventually scored on a single by Thompson.

With the score 2-0 in favor of the Glory after two, the Ice pulled starting pitcher, Shaina Ervin in favor of Ashley Hamby. Hamby was not effective as she allowed three runs in her first inning. Thompson led off the inning with a walk, and scored virtue of Keohohou's fourth home run of the season. Chamberlin next slugged her second home run of the season.

Up 5-0, the Glory added another two runs in the fourth inning. Barber led off the frame with a walk and her second stolen base of the game. After a groundout by Jackson advanced Barber to third, the former Georgia Bulldog scored on another RBI single by Thompson. Thompson scored on the very next at-bat as Catalina Morris celebrated her birthday with an RBI double down the right field line.

Thompson drove in her third run of the game in the sixth inning with a single to left. The former Sun Devil went 3-3 with two runs, a walk, and three RBIs on the night.

Pauly (8-2) was dominant in her six innings of work, carrying a no-hitter through 5.1 innings, and at one point retiring 10 straight batters. Amanda Jensen broke up the no-no with an infield single deep to the shortstop. Pauly, who is now tied with teammate Desiree Serrano in wins, also struck out eight batters to take the league lead in strikeouts with 74.

Jen Musillo worked the seventh inning for the Glory striking out three and allowing one run.
