ROCKFORD, Ill. A night with big expectations, turned into a night of big disappointment as the Rockford Thunder dropped the series opener to the Chicago Bandits by a final score of 11-0 at Sportscore One.
The Thunder (17-8) committed a season-high five errors in the game, allowing the Bandits to score six unearned runs in the game. Every infielder for the Thunder committed at least one error in the game and shortstop Jackie Wong committed two.
Serena Settlemier, who had been pitching outstanding for the Thunder, went just four innings in the game. She allowed 11 hits, a season high, and six runs. Only one of the runs allowed by Settlemier in the game was earned.
Chicago (12-13) used 16 hits in the game to score their runs. Five players in the game for Chicago had at least two hits in the game. Jaime Clark led the Bandits offensively in the game, as she was a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in.
Rockford managed just two hits in the game off of starter Jessica Sallinger. The Thunder had a single in the fourth inning and a double in the seventh inning by Amanda Freed to account for their hits in the game.
Tomorrows nights game is sixth game of a 12-game home stand for the Thunder. First pitch with the Bandits is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT and Abbie Sims is expected to be in the circle for the Thunder.
