LISLE, Ill. - For the first time in its three year history, the Bandits were no hit by an opponent as the Chinese National team took the 1-0 victory. With the loss, Chicago falls to 11-13 on the season.
Team China came ready to play tonight scoring the first run of the game for the first time this series. Jia Guo reached first on an infield error. Yi Zhou legged out an infield single. A wild pitch advanced both runners sixty feet closer to home. Di Wu grounded to short allowing Guo to scamper home.
While China registered a no hitter, the Bandits were nearly as good. Peaches James and Jessica Sallinger combined to allow only three hits and had six strikeouts. James started the game but left after two innings of work and was relieved by Sallinger, who had four of the strikeouts.
The story of the night, however, was Chinas Qi Li who not only no hit the potent Bandit lineup, but also registered 11 strikeouts of her own. In the first three games of the series, Chicago racked up 34 hits, 10 of the extra base variety.
The Bandits will hit the road to face neighbor and rival, the Rockford Thunder, for a four game series starting July 5th.
