Win Moves Glory Back into First

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Jessica Moore went 3-3 with two home runs, a double, and five RBIs to lead the Washington Glory (12-4) to a 11-0 win over Venezuela, and took over first place in the NPF standings. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak.

Moore, the local product out of Liberty University, got the onslaught started with a two-run shot to left center off Mariela Espinoza. Nichole Thompson scored on the play after being issued a walk earlier in the inning.

The Glory were held scoreless in the third inning, but erupted for six more runs in the fourth. Sara Larquier hit a one-out solo home run to right field, her league leading fifth homer of the season. Moore came up next and smashed her second home run of the night. The inning continued as Callie Piper singled, and advanced to third as LaDonia Hughes reached first on a fielder's choice, and advanced to second on an error by the second baseman. Nicole Barber took the next pitch to right field, scoring both runners on the single. Barber stole second and then advanced to third on a long fly ball out by Catalina Morris. With two outs, Amber Jackson singled to centerfield, and was later driven in on a double by Oli Keohohou.

Washington added three more runs in the sixth inning to take a 11-0 lead. Morris led off the inning with a single and promptly stole second. Morris advanced to third on a groundout by Jen Chamberlin and plated by a single by Larquier. Moore capped off her perfect night with a double to right center, which scored Thompson and Larquier.

Washington also got spectacular pitching performances by Desiree Serrano and Sarah Pauly, who combined on a three-hit shutout. Serrano (7-2) pitched five scoreless innings of two hit ball, striking out five. Pauly went the final 2 innings, allowing just one hit.
