LISLE, Ill. A night after the Thunder recorded just one hit in the 4-0 loss to Chicago, they returned the savor on Sunday, as they knocked off by the Bandits by a score of 1-0.
Serena Settlemier was the big story of the day. The second-year pitcher surrendered just two singles in the game to record her second shutout of the season.
On the day Settlemier recorded five strikeouts, while walking three to pick up the victory. The win improved her personal record to 4-2 on the year and Rockford improved to 11-3. Chicago fell to 5-9 on the season.
The lone run for the Thunder came in the third inning when Audrey Rendon drove in Erin Evans from third base on a ground out. Evans led of off the inning with an infield single and was followed by Jackie Wong who reached on a bunt single. Kristen Zaleski walked to load the bases with no outs and thats when Rendon delivered the RBI.
The Thunder could have done more damage in the game. They had eight hits in the game and left a total of nine runners on base.
Zaleski, Wong and rookie Abbie Sims all finished the afternoon 2-for-3 from the plate.
Rockford will return to action tomorrow night at 7 p.m. for game three of the four-game series with Chicago. The Thunder currently leads the season series with the Bandits five games to one.
