Allentown, PA - The streaking Akron Racers came into Allentown and came away with a victory over the Philadelphia Force by a score of 15-3. The Racers pounded out 18 hits against Force pitching.

Radara McHugh (3-0) picked up the win for the Racers (5-0). She pitched all seven innings and yielded six hits. The right hander struck seven, walked three, and was charged with three runs.

The Racers scored in their first at-bat without a ball leaving the infield. Second baseman Veronica Wootson, who came into the game batting .417, started the inning with an infield single to deep shortstop. Next batter, Racers third baseman Norrelle Dickson (3-for-4), beat out her sacrifice attempt for a bunt single. After a groundout to second base by center fielder Iyhia McMichael moved the runners to first and third, Kellie Middleton (3-for-4, 4 RBIs) put down a perfect suicide-squeeze bunt single to plate Wootson with the game’s first run.

In the third, Racers increased their lead to 2-0. With two outs in the inning, McMichael lined a Stacy Birk offering over the left field fence for her first home run of the season.

The Force (1-4) would cut the Racers lead in half in the bottom of the third. Center fielder Sharonda McDonald singled up the middle for her first National Pro Fastpitch hit. On the first pitch to Chelsea Spencer, the speedster from Texas A & M University stole second base. Spencer then flew out to right, but McDonald was able to move up to third on the play. Third baseman Clare Burnum drove in the first Force run with a groundout to second base.

Racers shortstop Kristin Johnson opened the fourth inning with a walk. A wild pitch would move her to second base. Catcher Jenn Poore singled up the middle scoring Johnson. Designated player Staci Ramsey singled to center, moving Poore to third. This would signal the end of the night in the circle for Birk. Meagan Hennessy was called upon from the bullpen. Ramsey then moved up to second on a delayed steal. After an Ianeta Lei popped out to second base, right fielder Tracee McCoy (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) singled to again put runners on first and third and scoring Poore. Wootson grounded out to shortstop and McCoy advance to second. Dickson followed with a walk to load the bases. An Ashley Smith pick off attempt at second got away, and another run would come home to score. McMichael continued the inning with a walk. Middleton ended the scoring in the inning by driving in two with a single. The inning would end with the Racers having a 7-0 lead.

The Racers would add four runs in the fifth inning, two in the sixth, and two more in the seventh. The runs in the seventh came courtesy of a second McMichael home run of the night.

Rocky Spencer of the Force knocked in two runs in the sixth inning. Her RBI single would drive in Kellie Wilkerson and Birk.

The Force was charged with three errors in the field and Birk (1-2) was charged with the loss.

The Racers and Force continue their four-game set Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at ECTB Stadium.
