Bandits Take Second Game Against Ice

Lisle, Ill. – After putting on an electrifying performance highlighted by Amy Harre’s no hitter last night, the Chicago Bandits took on the Michigan Ice for the second game of the series tonight. Jessica Sallinger took the start for the Bandits this evening. Sallinger’s record is 5-3 with two saves so far this season.

Making a complete turnaround from the slugfest last night, the Bandits were still hitless and the score was tied 0-0 heading into the fifth inning. The Bandits cranked it up on offense by the bottom of the fifth. Gina Oaks shot a single to center. Laura Harms did her job by advancing Oaks to second on a sacrifice bunt. Anne Steffan walked and was able to advance to second because the pitch got away from the catcher. Oaks advanced to third on the play as well. With runners in scoring position, Jaime Clark stepped up to the plate and drilled a shot to center, scoring both Steffan and Oaks. Those two RBIs brought Clark up to 30 on the season; she is the first Bandit to ever hit the 30 RBI mark.

The Bandits were able to squeeze one more run in the bottom of the sixth. Stacy May led off the inning with a walk. Co-head coaches, Mickey Dean and Eugene Lenti decided to use more speed on the base paths by putting Jessica Williams in to pinch run for May. Williams showed off her speed and stole second. Mackenzie Vandergeest brought Williams home with a blazing hit to center, that was the Bandit’s third and final run of the night.

Jessica Sallinger pitched a complete game and picked up the win making her record 6-3. She has also tallied an impressive 33 strikeouts so far this season; nine of those 33 strikeouts were picked up in the game tonight. This 3-0 win brings the Bandit’s record to 25-7 on the year.
