Lisle, Ill. Fresh off their loss to the USA World University Team, the Chicago Bandits were looking to avenge the defeat they received the night before in the second game of the series tonight. Jessica Sallinger, with a record of 5-1, started the game for the Bandits.
Throughout the first three innings, both teams struggled to make anything happen on offense, with the exception of singles by Anne Steffan and Gina Oaks. This was a stark contrast to the slugfest the teams had the previous night.
It took Team USA till the top of the fourth inning to get a hit off of bandit hurler, Jessica Sallinger.
The Bandits best shot to score came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Oaks led off with a blazing liner to left, making her two for two so far on the night. Laura Harms took a free pass to first base, advancing Oaks to second. Unfortunately, the Bandits couldnt make anything happen leaving the baserunners stranded and the score tied 0-0 heading into the top of the sixth inning.
Team USA turned things up in the top of the seventh with Tina Boutelle making it safely to first base due to an error by Bandit pitcher, Jessica Sallinger. Lindsay Schutzler stepped up to the plate and ripped an in the park homerun, scoring Team USAs only two runs for the night. The Chicago Bandits were unable to produce any offense in the bottom of the seventh inning, leading to their third loss in a row and bringing them to 22-6 on the season. Tomorrow night the Bandits will try to get refocused and back to their winning ways for the third game of the series.
