Game Box Score

Akron , Ohio – Before Sunday night's game, The Akron Racers said they had something to prove. After losing starters Crystl Bustos, Jenny Topping and Jamie Southern to the US National Team, the Racers proved they could go on, beating the Chinese Taipei National Team, 2-1.

Oli Keohohou led the Racers (10-5) offensively, going 2-for-3 after leading off the second inning with a solo home run to left center. The homer was her fourth of the year.

After the Chinese Taipei tied the game up the fourth following a leadoff triple by Lo Hsiao Ting, the Racers responded in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead.

Keohohou singled and Kim Gonzalez came on to pinch run for her. After stealing second Gonzalez scored on a Brandee McArthur double to right-center. It proved to be the winning run.

Radara McHugh pitched five strong innings, walking two and striking out three. She notched the win, her second of the year, and is now 2-2. Amy Kyler pitched the final two innings of the night to earn her first save of the year.

The Racers will be out of town the next two weekends but will return home July 12th to begin a four-game series against Denso Japan. First pitch for all four games, scheduled Wednesday-Saturday, is set for 7:05 pm. For ticket information, please call 330-376-8188.
