Force Lose 3-1 in Extra Innings

Game Box Score

Philadelphia, PA– After three days of rain outs, the Philadelphia Force opened up against the Connecticut Brakettes on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 1,073. Force southpaw Jennifer Stewart took the loss, as the Force dropped their fourth straight game on the season. The Brakettes pulled out the victory in the top of the 8th inning on Stephanie Best's sacrifice fly, as hurler Sarah Pauly went the distance for Connecticut improving to 1-0 on the season.

The Force scored their first run on the season in the bottom of the third inning on Carri Leto's single through the left side. Leto led the team offensively with two hits on the evening.

In the top of the fourth, Brakettes shortstop Jessica Merchant hit a home run over the left field fence to tie the game 1-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dacey drew her second walk of the game to lead things off for the Force. 2004 Olympian Natasha Watley bunted her way to first base before Leto hit her second single to load the bases. With two outs, designated player Emily Friedman flied out to center field to end the Force threat.

Stewart relieved starter Lauren Bay in the top of the second and scattered four hits while striking out two. Bay pitched one inning for the Force and struck out three before a wrist injury forced her to come out of the ballgame.

The Force will host the Texas Thunder in a four game series beginning Wednesday, June 14th. For ticket information, call 215.441.8600.
