AKRON, OHIOFor the third consecutive day rain has postponed play in the opening series between the Akron Racers and Philadelphia Force of the National Professional Fastpitch league.
A four-game series started Wednesday but only five innings were able to be completed and the game was suspended at that time. More rain Thursday pushed both that regularly scheduled contest and the suspended game back once again. The bad weather continued Friday and again completely washed out play. The following revisions were made to the schedule due to the postponements.
The completion of Wednesday's suspended game begins at 1:00 p.m. Saturday where play will be picked-up in the top of the sixth inning. Following the conclusion of that game there will be a 20 minute break before starting the game that was to be played Thursday. Firestone Stadium will then be cleared. Saturday's game will then be played, as scheduled, with a first pitch time of 7:05 p.m. Friday's game will not be made-up and has been cancelled.
Fans with tickets to Wednesday's halted game can present their ticket stubs for re-entry into the stadium for its resumption at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. If fans wish to stay for the game that follows 20 minutes after they must purchase a new ticket. For those fans who had tickets to Thursday's night contest those can used for the afternoon game or any other game this season. If a fan has or purchases a ticket for the Saturday afternoon contest (Thursday's postponement) they will also be allowed in for the completion of the suspended game. Due to the cancellation of Friday's contest any fans with tickets to that game can use it as a voucher to be redeemed at any point during the 2006 season. There are no changes to the Saturday night game in terms of ticketing.
Once again the schedule for Saturday, June 3 at Firestone Stadium for the Akron Racers/Philadelphia Force series:
1:00 p.m. - Resume Wednesday's suspended game
20 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game: Make-up Thursday's game in its entirety. The stadium will be cleared after this contest.
7:05 p.m. - Saturday's seven-inning game as scheduled.
Friday night's game will not be made-up.
