Tucson, AZ The Arizona Heat of National Pro Fastpitch League is proud to announce the signing of Arizona State pitcher Desiree Serrano. Serrano, the third round pick of the Heat in the 2006 College Senior Draft became the first of the three draft picks to sign. She will add some much needed pitching to the roster and will be active for this weeks series against Akron.
Serrano signed with the Heat following the conclusion of the 2006 Arizona State season that saw the Sun Devils reach the College World Series. Desiree was instrumental in the Sun Devils success, posting a career low 1.41 ERA in her senior season to go along with a 17-7 record.
Serrano ended her time with the Sun Devils amassing one of the most impressive pitching careers in school history. She finished a combine 63-41 record with a 1.90 ERA and 786 strikeouts in 726.2 innings pitched. Her 63 victories were good enough for fourth all-time at ASU and her strikeouts currently rank third in school history. Serrano also pitched
63 complete games in her four years with 24 being shutouts.
The Heat are in Akron for a four game series with the Racers from Wednesday thru Saturday. The team will then return home to face the New England Riptide in a four game series starting Thursday, June 15th at 7 pm.
