With the temperature rising all afternoon, Texas Thunder continued to rise as well as they took game four in stunning fashion over the Canadian National Team with a final score of 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth.
Thunder starter Amanda Freed (UCLA) tossed another complete game shutout for her second of the series, as she surrendered just four hits to go along with six strikeouts. With the win, Texas Thunder improves to 23-8 on the season and claim their fourth consecutive series sweep at home.
In the bottom of the ninth, right fielder Julie Watson (CSF) came through in the clutch as she provided the game winning single to drive in second baseman Lindsay Gardner for the winning run of the game. Gardner reached first on a walk and advanced all the way to third on two passed balls.
With the infield pinched in, Watson slapped a liner just over the shortstops glove to plate Gardner and give Thunder the win with a score of 1-0.
Texas Thunder will take on the So Cal Schutt Hurricanes in a four game regular season series beginning next Thursday, July 28th at Big League Dreams Sports Park in League City.
