Arizona Heat Sign Former Wildcat Star

Tucson, AZ – The Arizona Heat of the National Pro Fastpitch League is proud to announce the signing of former University of Arizona standout, Jackie Coburn. Coburn, the lone draftee of the Heat in the 2005 Senior Draft will join the team for this weekend’s series against the Texas Thunder.

Coburn started all four years for the Wildcats, splitting time between catcher and third base. She finished her career 21st on the all-time NCAA Homerun List with 52. Coburn finished her senior year hitting .282 with 10 homeruns and 48 RBIs. Her 10 homeruns were tops on the team and her 48 RBIs were second.

Coburn becomes the fifth former Wildcat to sign with the Heat this season, joining Toni Mascarenas, Nancy Evans, Lauren Bauer and Lovie Jung.

Nancy Evans and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Stacey Nuveman will both be making their season debuts when the Heat returns home next weekend to face the Venezuelan National Team.
