The New England Riptide continued their winning ways on Wednesday. The 'Tide improved to 3-0 with a 4-2 victory over the previously undefeated NY Juggernaut.
The long ball helped the Riptide once again as Sarah Andersen and Kellie Wilkerson each belted their second homeruns of the season.
Jocelyn Forest had another solid performance for the Riptide giving up two runs and four hits while walking two and striking out three in six innings of work. Three of those hits came in the first inning when the Juggernaut scored their first run when Treena Peel, Laura Taylor, and Jodi Cox had consecutive singles with one out in the inning. Forest bore down after that getting Ryan Realmuto and Alicia Smith to pop out.
The Tide got the run back in the second with Andersen's leadoff solo shot and the score remained tied at one until the top of the sixth when Wilkerson hit her blast scoring Lyndsey Angus, who had single to lead off the inning. The Nauts got one back in the sixth when Taylor got her second hit of the night, the team's first off Forest since the first inning, with a hard hit triple and scored on a Cox sac fly. As they had in their previous two games, the Riptide got an insurance run when Kristine Botto, making her first start with the Riptide, beat out an infield hit and later scored on a Lisa Iancin single.
Danielle Henderson, tomorrow's likely starter came on in the seventh for the save. Peaches James took the loss for the Nauts dropping her record to 2-1.
