Tucson, Ariz. The Arizona Heat dropped the series finale to the Akron Racers, 6-1. The Racers took three of four from the Heat at Hi Corbett this weekend. For the fourth game in a row, the Racers jumped out to an early lead, and unlike Saturday Night, the Heat could not fight their way back. Brandee McArthur won her second game of the series with five innings of one run ball. Jackie Poggendorf pitched two perfect innings to close out the game.
The Racers' offense was once again powered by homeruns, this time off the bats of Kristen Johnson and Crystl Bustos.
The Racers took the lead in the top of the second on the homerun by Johnson. The Heat came right back to tie the game with a double off the bat of Phelan Wright. In the top of third, Bustos hit her second homerun of the weekend to put the Racer up 2-1. The Racers plated four more runs in the game to push the score up to 6-1.
The Heat will travel to Texas to take on the Thunder next weekend, before coming back to Tucson to play the Venezuelan National team.
