ROSEMONT, Ill. (November 21, 2017) – The Chicago Bandits have agreed to a one-year contract with catcher Sashel Palacios, team officials announced on Thursday afternoon.
Palacios, a current graduate assistant at Arizona State, suited up all four years behind the plate for the Sun Devils during her collegiate career. As a senior, the Chula Vista, California resident ranked among team leaders in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.322 – third), home runs (10 – third), RBI (40 – third) and on-base percentage (.462 – first).
“We are excited to add a player of Sashel’s caliber to our roster for the 2018 season,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “She proved to be a reliable backstop at Arizona State and we’re glad she can continue her playing career in Chicago.”
In addition to her standout numbers at the plate, Palacios shined defensively for the Sun Devils, compiling a .989 fielding percentage during her senior campaign. As a sophomore, she earned All-Pac-12 Defensive honors and landed a spot on the NFCA All-West Region Team.
During her four years at Arizona State, Palacios helped guide the program to the NCAA Tournament in each season, including a trip to the Super Regionals round in 2014.
The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at The Ballpark at Rosemont for the 2018 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
