TUCSON, Ariz. The Arizona Heat have signed OF Cheryl Bolding to a contract, team General Manager Aaron Moore announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Bolding appeared in all 60 games for the Heat last season, finishing the year with a .243 batting average. She led the team with 46 hits in 189 at-bats, also a team-high. Bolding was one of four Arizona Heat members selected to play in the first-ever NPF All-Star Game held in July in Oklahoma City.
Originally the 45th overall pick of the 2003 NPF Senior Draft by the Heat, Bolding graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University where she was a three-time NAIA First Team All-American and she was twice named NAIA Player of the Year (2001-02).
Arizonas roster now stands at five signed players. Dana Sorenson, Tara Knudsen, Nichole Thompson and LaDonia Hughes all agreed to one-year contracts earlier this week following the teams trade with New England.
The Arizona Heat, a member of National Pro Fastpitch, will begin their second season of play in June 2005. For additional information on the Heat or to purchase tickets, please contact the team directly at 520-296-9595 or visit them on the web at www.arizonaprofastpitch.com.
