Rebellion First Franchise Home Win Courtesy of National Pro Fastpitch (2014)
Washington, PA- June 18, 2014 - In their first meeting against the Chicago Bandits, the Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, topped the visitors 2-1 on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure their first franchise home victory.
Engaged in a tight pitcher’s duel between Pennsylvania’s Sarah Pauly and Bandits ace Michelle Gascoigne, the game remained scoreless for six innings until Chicago’s Megan Wiggins hit an RBI sacrifice-fly to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.
However, the Rebellion rallied in their final at bat as Bianca Mejia and pinch hitter Sarah Prezioso both singled to put runners in scoring position for Pennsylvania. With two outs, a passed ball allowed pinch runner Carter and Prezioso to both cross the plate and seal the team’s first victory at CONSOL Energy Park.
On the mound, NPF veteran Pauly was dominant in the pitchers’ circle, surrendering a lone run on five hits while striking out three en route to her second win of the season. The righty tossed a complete game, not walking a single batter and shutting out the Bandits through five innings. On the night, Pauly tossed 83 pitches, 59 of which were strikes.
The Rebellion and Bandits finish off the two-game series at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, June 19 at CONSOL Energy Park. For tickets and/or group packages, contact the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office at 724.250.7412.
