ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Chicago Bandits centerfielder Caitlin Lever is an avid twitter user. @CaitlinLever, as she’s known by on the social media platform, frequently tweets celebrities, athletes and fans about her love for softball and support of National Pro Fastpitch.
Monday morning, Lever’s efforts struck a high note, getting Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano to agree to throw out the first pitch at the Bandits game on June 30.
The Thursday night game features the Bandits against the NPF Diamonds and is the first of a four game home series at Rosemont Stadium.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST at Rosemont Stadium.
An 11-year veteran with the Cubs, Zambrano is 6-4 this season with a 4.38 ERA and 74 strikeouts 111 innings pitched. For his career, he has won 122 games and has struck out 1,515 batters with a 3.55 ERA.
The Bandits enter the game with an overall record of 7-5, which makes them tied for first place in National Pro Fastpitch with the Akron Racers.
