Tryout is set for Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011
Akron, OH–Akron Racers, General Manager Joey Arrietta announced today that the Racers coaching staff will conduct an open tryout for the 2011 season on Monday, May 30, 2011. Tryouts are open to females 21 years of age and over and all participants must bring official identification for verification purposes.
The tryout will be held at the Racers home field, Firestone Stadium and the adjacent Pony Field. The tryout is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will cost $40 per applicant. Participants will run through a series of skills assessment drills and game situational experiences. “This will give players a chance to earn a spot on the 2011 roster,” remarked Arrietta. “We are looking forward to providing this opportunity for players to play at the elite level.”
Nicole Pauly, from Northwestern made the Chicago Bandit roster during last year’s tryout in Chicago. Pauly signed a free agent contract to play for the Racers this summer.
All females over the age of 21 are invited to try out for the team; however, if you do earn a roster spot and sign a contract, it will nullify any college eligibility you may have left. The Racers recommend that all participants exhaust all of their college eligibility before trying out for a pro team. If a contract is offered, that player must be prepared to report to the team by Wednesday, June 1st.
Advance registration is required.
