ROSEMONT, Ill –Chicago Bandits General Manager Aaron M. Moore is pleased to announce the fourth annual open tryouts for the 2011 season. Tryouts are open to females 21 years of age and over and all participants must bring official identification for verification purposes. The location for the tryouts will be announced shortly.
The tryout is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will cost $40 per applicant. Participants will run through several skill areas from 9 a.m. – noon and several players will be invited back to participate in live game action beginning at 1 p.m. Tryouts are planned for Saturday, May 28.
“This is a great chance for us to fill our final roster spot,” said Moore. “Many teams throughout the league have found some good players through the tryout and we’re hoping to do the same this season.”
All females over the age of 21 are welcome to try out for the team; however, if you do earn a roster spot and sign a contract, it will nullify any college eligibility you may have left. Therefore, the Bandits recommend that all participants have used up all of their college eligibility.
If a contract is offered, that player must be prepared to report to the team by Wednesday, June 1st.
Advance registration is required and you can download the registration form at the bottom of this release.
Last year, Palatine native and Northwestern University alum Nicole Pauly was selected after her performance at the open tryout. Pauly appeared in 31 games for the Bandits in 2010, hitting .302 with one home run and eight runs batted in.
“We’re looking for a player that is passionate, competitive and can contribute to the team,” said Moore. “We’re also looking for a multi-tool player who can play possibly several positions.”
