TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State University softball team fell to the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars, 9-1, in a "Back to School" Tour exhibition on Friday evening at JoAnne Graf Field.
The fun-oriented event featured many of the nation's best players, who put on a tremendous show for a satisfied fan base. The NPF pounded out 16 base hits, while its nationally-renowned pitchers held the Seminoles to three on the evening.
FSU's big splash was made when fifth-year senior Robin Ahrberg blasted a 1-1 offering from NPF pitcher Jamee Juarez, a towering shot to left field that put the Seminoles on the scoreboard. Sophomores Tiffani Brown and Morgan Bullock also garnered base hits.
NPF catcher Megan Willis finished 4-for-4, while Vicky Galindo, Danielle Lawrie and Samantha Findlay added two RBIs apiece. Pitcher Lisa Norris earned the win after striking out nine in four innings, while Lawrie and Juarez combined to throw the final three frames.
FSU relievers Lauren Varsalona and Bullock were effective for the final two innings, combining to allow no runs on two hits.
The Seminoles conclude their fall season and return with the Seminole Kickoff Classic on Feb. 11, 2011, against St. John's at noon at JoAnne Graf Field.
