NASHVILLE, Tennessee (June 6, 2010) – The final game of the series against the Tennessee All-stars, a team composed of collegiate athletes from Tennessee, was held at Lipscomb University today. The game was a defensive battle, as both teams were scoreless through four innings of play. In the top of the fifth inning, first baseman, Jessica Ives hit a solo homerun off of pitcher Kristen Erb to give the All-stars a 0-1 lead. The Diamonds answered back in the top of the sixth scoring seven runs. Chelsea Spencer, DeDe Justice, and Aubree Brattin each singled to load the bases. Chelsie Mesa and Carly Wynn totaled for 4 RBIs in the inning. The Diamonds added five more runs in the seventh to defeat the All-stars 1-12. The winning pitcher was Megan Gibson going for four innings with four strikeouts and only one walk.
The Diamonds will open up their regular season on June 9-13 against the Akron Racers featuring Crystl Bustos, the most renowned hitter in softball history.
