ELGIN – Have you ever wanted to test your abilities and tryout, possibly even earn a roster spot, for a professional fastpitch team? Here’s your chance to suit up alongside fastpitch softball greats like Jennie Finch, Stacy May and Vicky Galindo.
Chicago Bandits GM Aaron M. Moore announced today the third annual Chicago Bandits “Open Tryouts” to be held May 29 on the Bandits field at Judson University. Tryouts are open to females 21 and over and participants must bring an official ID for verification.
The tryout will be held from 10 – 3 on Saturday, May 29 and will cost $30 per applicant. Registration in advance is required and registration forms can be downloaded at http://www.chicagobandits.com/clinics/upcoming/.
“This is a great chance for us to fill our final roster spot,” said Moore.“Many teams throughout the league have found some good players through the tryout and we’re hoping to do the same this season.”
All females 21 and over are welcome to tryout; however, if a roster spot is earned and a contract is signed, it will nullify your remaining years of eligibility in college softball. Therefore it is the recommendation of the Bandits that all participants have no eligibility remaining.
The past two seasons the Chicago Bandits have signed players to the roster by way of the open tryout. In 2008, Radford University alum Ashley Carlson earned a spot in the Bandits outfield. The following year, Cheyenne Jenks of Florida Golf Coast University earned a spot as a utility player for the Bandits.
