THUNDER WIN GAME ONE IN EXTRA INNINGS BUT FALL IN GAME TWO

HOUSTON, Texas – The duel between the Texas Thunder and the Arizona Heat tonight was an exciting one. Both teams were scoreless until the 10th inning. Peaches James (4 –0) shutdown the Heat, adding 14 strikeouts to her league-leading total, which now stands at 44 on the season. James pitched all 10 innings, allowing the Heat only five hits over the course of the three-hour game.

In the bottom of the tenth inning Lindsay Gardner (University of Texas) went deep for a walk – off homerun off of Arizona Heat pitcher Tarrah Beyster. The Texas Thunder took game one by a final score of 1-0. The loss dropped Beyster to 0-4 on the season, and the Heat fell to 5-8.

Game two was a different story for Thunder, as the Arizona Heat came out hitting and took the second game. The Heat scored in the top of the third with a two-run homerun by the Heat’s Becky Turi.

Texas Thunder tried to fight back in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Realmuto (Oklahoma State) squeezed in Kristen Zaleski (Texas State) to make it 2–1, but the Thunder could not push another run across.

Texas Thunder’s record goes to 10 – 4 on the season. They will play game three of the series against Arizona on Friday, June 18 at 7:35 p.m. at University of Houston Softball Stadium.
