HOUSTON, Texas The Texas Thunder look to start a new streak, after taking the final game of the series from the New England Riptide 3 - 0.
Christa Williams (University of Texas) pitched a solid game only giving up 3 hits and no runs moving her record to 4-0 on the season. Clare Burnum (Oregon State) started Thunder off in the bottom of the second inning with a solo blast over right field, to give Thunder an early lead.
The Thunder struck again in the bottom of the fifth, when back to back walks for Ginger Jones (Alabama) and Marissa Young (University of Michigan). Laura Leonetti (Brown University) came in to pinch run for Jones, and stole third, and then scored off of a bunt by Ryan Realmuto (Oklahoma State University), moving Young to third. Kristen Zaleski (Texas State University), then scored Young with an RBI to left making it 3 0. The other contributing hits for the Thunder came from Julie Brooks (Rutgers University) with a double and a base hit from Young,
Texas Thunders record goes to 9 -3 on the season, and maintains their first place leads. Thunder plays again on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at University of Houston Softball Stadium.
