Thunder Extends Winning Streak To Four

HOUSTON, Texas—The match up between the Texas Thunder and the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut was a tough one. Both the Thunder’s Lindsay Chouinard (1-1) and the Juggernaut’s Kaci Clark (0-1) had stellar performances on the mound.

In the top of the fourth, the Juggernaut started a rally when Carri Leto (0-3) reached first by error. Jaclyn Pasquerella (3-3) then bunted for an infield hit and Leto took an extra base and went to third. The Juggernaut had runners on first and third with no outs. The rally was stopped dead in it’s track with catcher Ryan Realmuto’s beautiful throw to short stop Amanda Buchholz to catch Pasquerella stealing, Buchholz then catches Leto trying to steal home. The Thunder stopped Leto in the hot-box for the second out of the inning. Chouinard struck out Kellie Wilkerson to the inning and the Juggernaut threat.

The Thunder got the offensive going in the bottom of the sixth. University of Texas alumnae Lindsay Gardner (0-2, R) started off the inning with a hard shot back at Clark to reach first with no outs. Then, the Juggernaut try to fight back getting two quick outs. Then former Oregon Duck, Clare Burnum (2-3, RBI, R) blasts a double to left scoring Gardner. The scoring wasn’t over just yet, Buchholz (2-3, RBI) laid down the sacrifice squeeze not only scoring Burnum but also reaching first. The Juggernaut fought for the third out closing the inning. But, the quick Thunder sixth-inning two-run rally would be all that was needed.

Texas Thunder’s Lindsay Chouinard goes the distance and moves to 1-1 on the season. With the win tonight the Texas Thunder sail into first place with a 6-2 season record.
